Carole sings as part of "An Afternoon of Oz"
Come out, come out wherever you are and celebrate the 70th anniversary of THE WIZARD OF OZ at the Peekskill Museum. Learn about Peekskill's connection to the real-life Yellow Brick Road and about how L. Frank Baum, author of the original Oz novels, attended school in Peekskill. Find out how the popular Broadway musical WICKED came to be. The event features talks by John Curran, historian at the Peekskill Museum; Evan I. Schwartz, author of the new Baum biography FINDING OZ; and Carol de Giere, author of DEFYING GRAVITY (a biography of WICKED's composer). Vocalists Carole Demas (the original "Sandy" in Grease on Broadway, Co-Star of TV's Magic Garden, etc.) and Lara Janine, (who starred as "Elphaba" in Japan), will sing several songs from THE WIZARD OF OZ, THE WIZ, and WICKED, with pianist Jeffrey Lodin.
